CILENTO. Step back in time and into this deep-dive adventure. If you seek something truly authentic, then this is absolutely the trip for you. Find out why Lisa and her husband chose Cilento as their new home.
CILENTO is located in a National Park in southern Campania, cradle of the Magna Graecia and "Most Favored Child" of the Roman Empire, for awhile at least. It is the "left arm" of the Gulf of Salerno, from which you look across to Capri and the Lattari Mountains of the Amalfi Coast.
Blessed with pristine waters and rugged, fertile lands, Cilento stretches from the magnificent Greek temples of PAESTUM (2500 years old) down to the border of Calabria.
CILENTO is Blu. Cilento's coast hosts a whopping 14 of the 19 total Blue Flag beaches in the entire region of Campania. The Blue Flag is awarded only to beaches with the most pure, uncontaminated waters in the world. National Geographic named two beaches in Cilento among the Top 10 Most Beautiful in Italy!
CILENTO is Timeless, literally Hike through History, traces of Neolithic and Bronze Ages appear before your eyes. Cilento is perhaps more Samnite, Greek, Roman, Saracen and Medieval than it is "Modern".
CILENTO is History. The Greeks founded the Fifth School of Philosophy just south of Paestum in Velia (6th c. BC, later known as Elea) . Parmenides is regarded as the founder of metaphysics or ontology, while Zeno is known for his paradoxes of motion. Placing value of Rationality over Sensual experience, the Eleatics had an immense impact on Western philosophy.
LITERARY LEGEND: Ernest Hemingway came to Cilento after slumming around on the opposite coast of Amalfi. He stayed for a year in the tiny fishing village of Acciaroli, where he hung out with a fisherman Antonio Marone who inspired him to pen his classic "Old Man and the Sea." As Serendipity would have it, Lisa met the Old Man's granddaughter who recounted tales passed down to her.
Cilento is a "Blue Zone", which means that it is a demographic region where people commonly live active lives into their 90's and 100 years. The lifestyle, the seasonal food products and culinary traditions (that date back to Ancient Greece and beyond) made it slow way before there was a Slow Food Movement. ANCEL KEYES got hip to the benefits and it became the infamous "Mediterranean Diet" that revolutionized how we think about eating today.
Treat yourself and someone you love to this unforgettable luxury adventure in 2025.
